About us

The Cork Company  is an Italian company leader in production  and distribution of cork closures of different types,

present in the wine sector for over three generations. Our factory is located on an area of 2500 square meters near Alessandria and is easily accessible, since it is located near the main highways and railways of Northern Italy. Alessandria is about 90km from Milan (Linate Airport) and 80km from both Genoa (with its commercial port) and Turin.

Starting from 2018, the company has activated several performing partnerships with some producers located in the north-west of Portugal and specialized in the production of natural one-piece, agglomerated and micro-granulated caps.

TECHNICAL PLUGS FREE FROM IMPURITIES FOR A HIGH PERFORMANCE CLOSURE

The ranges of technical caps are the result of many years of experience in the treatment of granulates and important investments in research and technological innovation. Every single phase of the production process has been enhanced to obtain closures that can combine sensorial neutrality with mechanical dynamism that guarantees the best performance in terms of sealing and natural evolution over time according to the specific bottling needs.

  •  I granulati di sughero sono prodotti da plance di sughero provenienti da fornitori qualificati SYSTECODE;

  •  Un puntuale controllo visivo in ingresso, permette la totale rimozione di corpi estranei prima che le plance siano lavorate;

  • L'umidità del sughero è controllata in conformità alla norma ISO9727 COMPARANDO IL PESO DELLA MATERIA PRIMA

  •  Accurata selezione dei granuli di sughero con controllo della densità;

  • Innovativo processo di sterilizzazione composto da differenti fasi di stoccaggio ad alta temperatura combinata con correnti micronebullizate ad elevato potere estraente;

  •  Tutti i prodotti chimici ed i collanti utilizzati per l'agglomerazione sono conformi ai regolamenti CEE e FDA in materia di food contact;

  • Tutti i tappi sono prodotti con STAMPO INDIVIDUALE garantendo uniformità di prestazione e tenuta;

  • Tutti i tappi sono controllati in tutte le fasi del processo in merito a densità, dimensioni, umidità, tenuta al liquido, assorbimento, tosione, estrazione e TCA;

  • Un processo di lavaggio rimuove le polveri residue;

PROCESS

The one-piece corks  Original Libre  they are subjected to an innovative sensory selection process thanks to the use of a thermo-physical technology aimed at enhancing  any sensory deviations of the cork. The process involves passing the corks through a treatment chamber where they are heated by non-ionized waves with a frequency of 2.45 GHz and subjected to a humidification system with extracting power. At the exit they are ready to be tested and selected by a qualified panel that eliminates the defective ones, working continuously.

Why choose Original Libre?

Thanks to the Original libre process, unique in its kind as it involves heating the cap from the inside out, it is possible to:

- Increase the accuracy of the selection and reduce the subjectivity of the panel by isolating not only the defects attributable to the TCA, but also all the remaining possible deviations (Geosmine, Pyrazine, Guaiacolo).

- Detect and eliminate corks with structural defects that could cause sealing problems after bottling.

- Substantially reduce the presence of molds, yeasts and bacteria present on the cork thanks to the action of heat treatment.

- Substantially reduce environmental impacts since the process keeps energy consumption to a minimum in a Go GREEN perspective.

TECHNOLOGY AT THE SERVICE OF QUALITY FOR A TCA-FREE CAP AND POSSIBLE SENSORY DEVIATIONS

Il processo non degrada le caratteristiche fisiche e sensoriali del tappo ed è completamente idoneo alla filiera alimentare.

La relativa validazione è stata effettuata da laboratori accreditati.

Sono disponibili su richiesta i relativi report di prova.
